Ouija Boards? Halloween and All Soul’s Day, and the Day of the Dead of all come to pass. These are usually the days that people are most interested and contacting spirits. They made do it for the thrill. They may do it because they sincerely want to reach someone on the other side. Of course, they may also do it with more sinister intentions in mind. They’ll often use a spirit board or some other type of material object to translate messages. But is this safe? If there’s anything that I discourage strongly, it’s Ouija boards. Like a lot of people, I have had my experiences with them. Well some people have good experiences, or neutral ones, too many people have terrible experiences. These experiences can become living nightmares.

Ouija Boards are Ancient…Or Are They?

The Spirit boards you’re using today don’t actually harking back to ancient times. They were invented in 1890 during the spiritualism movement. They were used to help spiritualist and medium conduct séances. The spirit could relay a message to everybody could see. Everyone could participate in the communication by putting their finger on the planchette.

The Ouija boards were eventually mass produced and sold as toys. Even though these boards or marketed as games, they’re still able to do whatever the users in intend them to do.

Why Ouija is a Bad Idea: An Analogy

Imagine that you take a plane to a new country. You’re in a new city full of millions of people. It’s late at night, and you don’t know much about the neighborhoods or the culture. You decide to walk around alone, looking to make friends with anyone you meet. Whenever anybody says they are, you believe. Whatever they tell you, you believe. You invite them back to your hotel room.
Does this sound crazy to you? It should. Yet, this is exactly what you’re doing when you using a Ouija board, and you don’t have any guidance or training. You’re letting anyone come to you, and you’re not vetting them. You probably don’t know how, but you’re still going to let them come into your life, your home, and your mind anyway.

What I Did Wrong

I used a spirit board when I was younger, too. I was at a friends house, and his parents were pretty agnostic about just about everything. They saw no harm in it. My mother warned me not to do it. She psychic, and she knows what can happen if you just open the door let anything walk in. But, more important to me at that age was impressing girls and not being a pansy. Besides: what was the worst that could really happen? The spirit said his name is Stanley, and that he used to live in the house. He then told us about a very gruesome murder. He then told us he was angry, we try to say goodbye. He just kept coming back. He said he was going home with me. I left. I ran down the street, feeling something dark and heavy on my back entire way. It was as if the faster Iran, further my house got for me. My mother know soon as I walked in the door. I think she could actually see him. She did a cleansing on me, and then a cleansing on the house, but that spirit for her the entire way.

I can only imagine what would’ve happened if I didn’t have a mother who is able to help me.

Alternatives to Ouija Boards

So, are the best alternatives to Ouija boards? For the inexperience, nothing. Nothing at all. You should not be trying to contact beings that you can’t see, control, or trust. You should be seeking out an experienced person, like a psychic medium, to contact the dead for you. A psychic can either see a spirit, or can tell by their energy, whether or not they are someone’s long-lost ancestor, or something much more sinister. A psychic can also help you protect yourself in case something sinister has found its way to you.
